What

PLAYitOFF.org is the central organizing vehicle behind the national campaign for a college football playoff. PLAYitOFF.org's goal is the establishment of a playoff system for the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS, formerly Division 1-A) universities to supplant the current Bowl Championship System (BCS) of crowning a national champion.

How

Pressuring the University Presidents and Athletic Directors (the lead decision-makers in big-time college football) of the 67 universities comprising the six major conferences in college football (ACC, Big 12, Big East, Big Ten, Pac-10, and SEC) and the University of Notre Dame. These leaders stand in the way of change. PLAYitOFF.org has compiled the contact information for each one of these key decision-makers, as well as available information on their current position regarding a college football playoff, so that alumni, fans, donors, and other stakeholders can lobby their university's representatives, much like one lobbies Congress for political change.

Why

The current system is unfair to the players and fans whose teams' access to the national championship is determined not by their actions, but by the biases of the pollsters. As long as what happens in the polls on Sunday is more important than what happens on the field on Saturday, the system is unfair. For more defense of a playoff, see the Arguments for a Playoff page.

Who

Alumni, donors, boosters, current students, faculty/staff, and fans are the key actors in this campaign. Decision-makers need to hear from the people who pay their salaries and fund their endowments, whether that money comes through alumni givings, tuition bills (current or former), or television ratings. This is your chance to really influence the debate and to make your voices heard!
